Wills

A San Francisco wills attorney can explain all the proper steps in creating a will. There are certain aspects of will creation that most do not know. You need a San Francisco living trust lawyer, so that assets you haven't conveyed won't become subject to probate. The personal representative in charge of the probate is entitled to receive compensation from the estate assets for his or her services.

What You Should Know When Hiring an Attorney

When hiring an attorney, it is important to make sure he or she has experience in the area of law for which you are seeking help.  In addition, look for ratings and credentials that can be verified, such as Martindale Hubbell's "AV" rating, signifying the highest standards of ethical and legal ability.  It is also important to hire an attorney who is responsive, returns calls promptly, and keeps you informed of the status of your case on a regular basis.

There are also different types of fee structures that exist for legal services.  Certain types of matters, such as personal injury cases, are typically handled on a contingency fee basis, meaning that an attorney takes on your claim without charging you any fees during its pendency.  If you successfully recover a judgment or settlement, you then pay your attorney a previously agreed upon percentage of the judgment or settlement amount.  In other words, if you do not recover any money, you do not pay any legal fees.  However, even if you recover no money, you may still be required to pay for reasonable costs or expenses incurred by your attorney in litigating your claim.

For other types of matters, such as business litigation matters, attorneys typically charge a fixed hourly rate for legal services, as well as for expenses reasonably incurred in handling your matter.
